Van Houten, 73, was 19 when she was convicted of her involvement in two 1969 murders: of Leno LaBianca, a Los Angeles grocer, and his spouse, Rosemary.
Within the sixties, the chief of the sect Charles Manson ordered his followers to commit 9 murderstogether with that of actress Sharon Tate, so as to begin a racial warfare, which he named as ‘Helter Skelter’ after a well-known Beatles tune.
Manson died in jail in 2017.
