Dritan Goxhaj, a former member of the Kosovo Liberation Military (ELK), was arrested on Monday within the Albanian capital, Tirana, following a warrant issued by a courtroom in The Hague specializing in legal circumstances associated to the Kosovo battle.

Goxhaj is accused of “intimidating and obstructing the work of officers within the efficiency of their duties” and, particularly, of unveiling the id of a number of protected witnesses in numerous legal courtroom proceedings, as reported by the newspaper ‘The Every day Occasions’.

“He’ll stay detained in Albania pending the extradition determination of the Albanian authorities,” the specialised courtroom in The Hague stated in a press release. Goxhaj is the son of the well-known Colonel Dilaver Goxhaj.

Former President Hashim Thaci is being tried by the courtroom for alleged battle crimes and crimes towards humanity for a marketing campaign of persecution, killings, torture and compelled disappearances through the open battle between 1998 and 1999.

The Kosovo Liberation Military (KLA) fought towards Serb troops to win Serbia’s independence from the bulk Albanian-populated province. Independence was lastly achieved with the assistance of NATO.
