A Russian investigative journalist and lawyer have been savagely crushed by armed attackers in Chechnya. Elena Milashina and Alexander Nemov they had been within the russian republic to attend the sentencing of a critic of the chechen chief Ramzan Kadyrov.
In keeping with the human rights group Memorial, Milashina had damaged fingers and bruises throughout her physique. She and Nemov had been threatened with a gun by the assailants. The veteran reporter is believed to be recovering in a Grozny hospital.
